I was extremely impressed by their build quality. The pictures do not do them justice. I was equally impressed with how silent they run for transformer-based equipment.
I have currently set them up with the BDC running the Playback Designs Stream-IF module and the BAC1000 running the preamplifier (Halcro dm10) only. Once it arrives in the next month, I intend to run the Taiko Extreme server from the BAC as well.
Immediately after inserting the Plixir units, a lowered noise floor and better detail retrieval was evident. Macro- and microdynamic shadings were also much more striking.
The effects were at first a little non-linear over the frequency range however I expected as both units contain fairly large transformers that a reasonable burn-in period will apply.
I have had a very busy week at work this week so have not had much time to listen, although when I have listened briefly since the first set up, both units appear to be settling in slightly.
I anticipate they will sustain their benefits whilst becoming more natural-sounding over the coming weeks-to-months. I have a lot of friends keen to come over and hear them in action!
I'm very happy with this purchase and would love to look into a couple of Elite BAC3000s to supply my amps and the active sections of my speakers (Ypsilon SET100 Ultimates and Evolution MM3s) down the track.
